Why does fungi grow on your body like feet?

Fungi such as that causing athlete's foot (Tinea pedis), flourish in an evironment such as feet. The foot has 2 characteristics fungi grow well in. 1. Dead skin and 2. a warm moist environment. Some people are more prone to fungi foot infections do to their immune system. Many of the over the counter medications work well but if it moves into toenails, it is more difficult to treat. Prescription meds such as Lamisil are needed for this and need to be taken for 4-6 months in total to cure. Why does fungi grow on your body like feet?

In places like your feet...usually you wear shoes and socks for long hours + poor hygiene = good breeding ground for fungi and bacteria.
