Skin fungus?

My 11 year old son plays outside ';all the time';. He is a very active person. He keeps getting ring worms on his face. My neighbor says it is from our dog, the doctor says it is from inadequate hygiene, ( yes that pissed me off, so I did stop listening to her). What causes this, and is there a home treatment to prevent this. BTW he has been on an oral antibiotic and skin cream and they go away only temporarily.Skin fungus?
I am told by guys I know who wrestle, that they are also very prone to ringworm because of all of the sweaty person to person contact and hanging out in damp locker rooms. They tell me that they use Selson Blue medicated shampoo as a body wash every day and it stops them from getting ringworm as it is anti-fungal. Read the ingredients and talk to the pharmacist about it for your son.Skin fungus?
Ringworm is a fungus and has different names for the different areas of the body it affects: ';skin on your body (tinea corporis), scalp (tinea capitis), groin area (tinea cruris, also called jock itch), or feet (tinea pedis, also called athlete's foot';

Ring worm is highly contagious and since he has been on an oral antibiotic, you might want to see where else the source of the ring worm may be. Treat all possibilities/sources of ringworm to prevent reinfection.

This is a good site from the National Library of Medicine from the National Health Institute.

It mentions cats. Perhaps there are cats who come into your yard that are carriers?
Bacteria causes it. I got it once from swimming in tropical water. The hygene thing, not so much, I shower at least daily and that didn't prevent it. The only cure I know of is anti-biotic cream.

He could be getting it from playing near where the dog goes to the washroom as there are lots of bacteria in feces, even after you scoop it off the lawn.
Take him to a dermatologist. Your doctor who said it is from poor hygiene is full of crap.
