Your vet will need to examine your horse to find the cause in order for you to find the right treatment. There are many possible causes, and they are treated differently. What works for one may make another worse. No one on here can know how this should be treated, and you risk doing more harm than good every time you try another ';treatment'; without knowing what is wrong.Hair loss on my horse!! Fungus??!! Plz help!!?
It is prob rain rot, my horse had a little bout of it 2 all you have to do is wash them and put MTG on it go to your local farm store and bu some, when you put it on use gloves it smells like bacon and you can get the smell out of your hands, the next few days it will smell like burning hair, but dont worry its just the stuff working, this stuff works miracles, also if you want your horse to grow hair anywhere else like mane, tail, scars it works fab, my horse grew 3 inches of mane hair in 2 weeks, reaply as nessicary! good luck
Try Eqyss Megatek Shampoo or a Betadine solution recommended by your vet. Betadine is great for cleaning wounds but it tends to dry the skin out. If the problem persists you will have to have a vets diagnosis to determine what kind of treatment is needed. It sounds like rain rot or mange to me. If you have him under certain types of trees (Oaks for example) it may be an allergy or just the sap falling on him.

Our vet supplied a betadine horse wash (not like the one from the chemist or pharmacy) is this the one you were using? We found it REALLY good and cleared up everything. The horse we used it one was a little scabby, losing hair etc etc.
You really need to have a vet come out. They can do ';tests'; to find out exactly why his hair is falling out. It could be MANY different things. Please get a vet out there to tell you what exactly is going on, it is the only way to help him.
My horse had the same problem just apply baby desiten all over the area and keep adding it on until the fungus goes away also a vet could help with antibiotics.
i agree with everyone else...you need a vet out really

it could be rain scald, or could be lice etc.........both reasonably easy to deal with.........but you need to KNOW what you are dealing with
It really needs to be diagnosed. It is probably rain rot (scald) or it might be a mange. Treatments would be different so, get the vet.
